If you consider travelling by train, Como San Giovanni train station is easy to reach and provides direct connections to Zurich and Milan.

If you plan to come by plane, Malpensa airport is the closest to Como.

Taxi is the more comfortable but also more expensive (around 150€) transport option to the Lake.

Train is a cheaper but more time consuming solution with the Malpensa Express. No direct train connection, a change in Saronno with Trenord is required to get to Como.

Alternatively you may consider renting a car.

For the good or the bad, Lake Como has become a high demand destination in the last years (bloody George Clooney!).
